This post is being published today, Christmas Eve. This is because I know you will be enjoying the festive season tomorrow. Besides, my quota of Tailwind credits renews tomorrow so I have some to use up today. In this post, we will be looking at free strategies to skyrocket your music sales today.

RouteNote
RouteNote offer a service where you can publish your music for free. They get their payment from the streams and sales of your work. Don’t worry! They only take 10% and if you sign up for RouteNote under this link, I will be paid a very small part of your streaming and sales revenue. However, it keeps my blog alive and 90% of the proceeds go to you anyway.
RouteNote will publish your music at no charge (as I just aid) to all the top music streaming and retail websites. Therefore, you can expect to find your work on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon…and the list goes on!

Blogging
If you aren’t blogging, then you are leaving free exposure, money and unfound support for your music on the table. People are constantly looking for new music to listen to. Heck, some people even boast of the new music they know about, but their friends don’t. Why shouldn’t people boast about finding your music. Spotify makes new music discovery easier than ever.
If you can blog about your music, you can also be discovered more easily on Google.
Blogs are also good for building rapport and getting to know your audience. It will give you ideas of the average age of your fans. It will also tell you the locations of your fans. This will be immensely helpful if you are planning to go on tour and do shows.

Social media offers you a key opportunity to build those relationships with your fans. It is easily possible to target your customer base using Facebook and Pinterest advertising. I recommend these two advertising avenues especially because you can target your ideal customer. You can also get a much, much better bang for your buck with Pinterest and Facebook advertising.
However, as the subject of this post is “free” promotional strategies to skyrocket your music sales, we only need to focus on “free” here. I use speech marks because “free” is never really free. It comes down to time. Your time is the most valuable commodity you have. Therefore, free is never free.

The Best Social Media Platforms for Strategies to Skyrocket Your Music Sales
As I said, Facebook and Pinterest are good for paid traffic. However, if you don’t have the money available at the moment, we have to forget that paid traffic. With organic traffic, Pinterest is your best friend.
With Pinterest, you can find interesting pins leading to interesting blog posts that will show you what you need to know. Pinterest is like a visual search engine. Therefore, the more content you put out, the more people will notice your pins and the more traffic you will get to your site(s).
Facebook is one of the poorer performing social media sites. Reach is very poor. As Instagram is owned by the Facebook company, the reach is poor with Instagram too.

The reason I am including Facebook is that most people still use it. Therefore, with this reason on its own, it is a good idea to use Facebook.
With the Krannaken Facebook page, we are letting it run its course. It is extremely annoying when you have built a large community with little engagement.
Running a Facebook Group With Organic Traffic
I have seen this strategy work with over 100,000 active members of a group. The group admin set a rule where new members have to invite at least ten of their relevant friends. Therefore, more people joined and more people have access to the group. The best part of this was that the members are all interested in the subject. The group was for musicians and the admin asked for referrals who have a musical interest.

YouTube has to be one of my favourite social media sites. This is because I can choose exactly what I want to watch. If I haven’t got that video in my feed, I can just do a search.
Another reason why I am such a big YouTube fan is that if I want to find help, I can get it on YouTube. I often search YouTube before I search on Google. Having someone explain it to me is always better than reading a text-based post.

SoundCloud for Strategies to Skyrocket Your Music Sales
Although I would always recommend using SoundCloud‘s paid version, the free is also useful. The desktop app is also a lot better than the mobile app. This is because I like to search for fresh trance tracks that were uploaded in the last hour or the last day. You tend to find people are more likely to support you if you support them. People who are new are always more grateful for likes, comments, reposts and follows. I like to do all of these things with the music I listen to. The ability to search for fresh content isn’t quite there on the mobile version.
Hypeddit for Strategies to Skyrocket Your Music Sales
Again, I really do recommend that you use the paid version of Hypeddit. With a free account, you can only have one download gate. This means you can only use one song. With a paid account, you can build an unlimited number of download gates. Therefore, you have more to choose from.
Hypeddit has built my email list to more than 200 people since I first used it a couple of months ago. These people expect to receive my emails. They also like and repost my SoundCloud tracks.
SoundPlate
SoundPlate offer a free service where you can submit your music to many different Spotify and Deezer playlists for free. If you can get a placement or two through this service, it is well worth it because we all want more exposure. Playlists give us that exposure. Therefore, we can earn more money from Spotify as a result.
