How to Boost Your Mental Health and Build Your Music Career

A lot of the advice in this post and the best ways to increase your mental health in general in your music career boil down to one thing: time management for musicians. Therefore, I am going to share with you a few tips on how best to manage your time, where you should put your focus and how you should manage your stress levels. I am also going to share with you the best ways to increase your mental health. By the end of this post, you will be able to move forward with a heightened sense of achievement.

Time Management For Musicians

As I have already said, your success is all about managing your time more effectively. Therefore, let me give you some tips to help you find the best ways to increase your mental health in your music career.

Strategy #1: Time Blocking

Time blocking is a great way for effective time management. This is because you will know exactly what you need to do and when. This will enable you to organise your music career and also give you a heightened sense of achievement once you have your day and your tasks complete.

What is Time Blocking

Let us imagine a wall. You need to fill each spare hole with a brick so that the wall is more secure. In time blocking, the holes are time in your day and the bricks are tasks that you need to do. Therefore, you are making your house more secure because you are doing all the necessary tasks that help to maintain your music career.

You can purchase apps and paper-based pads for time blocking. However, I can strongly recommend that you use Google Calendar for your time blocking requirements. Google Calendar is completely free and it provides you with everything you need. You can time block time in the future. It will also help you to remember certain tasks that need to be maintained. Time blocking will also help you to keep organised because Google will alert you every time you add something to your calendar. Google Calendar really is a great tool if you want to manage your time more effectively. The alarm will sound 30 minutes before a task is to be done and also when the task is to start.

Strategy #2: How to Boost Your Mental Health by Taking a Walk Every Day

As musicians, many of us work from the comfort of our own homes. While the commute is easy to manage, we can easily become recluses and stay at home all day every day without getting out, getting a breath of fresh air and meeting others. This is a dangerous way to act and it is not the way to boost your mental health. In fact, becoming a recluse will negatively affect your day-to-day life if you let it. Taking a walk is an essential part of time management for musicians or anyone who works from home.

Therefore, you should take a walk every day. In my view, it is best to take a walk either earlier in the morning before the rush hour traffic or at lunchtime when you have a little time to get out.

Strategy #3: Diary Management

Again, keeping a diary should go hand-in-hand with time blocking. The only difference is that with a diary, you are planning your tasks two weeks in advance. Instead o\f saying, “Write a blog post” (as you would in time blocking), you are making a note of a potential title. For instance, “Write blog post entitled: “How to boost your mental health and build your music career”. If you can keep to this strategy, you will save time because you will know exactly what you are writing about and when.

How to Manage Your Time Effectively With an Ideas Book

It is an excellent idea to keep a separate notebook for your blog post ideas. There are various ways to find ideas for your blog posts. I will update the post on blog post ideas because I have found other ways in which to get my blog post ideas and I want you to know what they are.

How to Boost Your Mental Health Through Prioritising Your Time

If you want to learn how to boost your mental health, it is essential that you get the most important tasks done first. Therefore, you need to time block for the most essential tasks first. Many professionals keep a note of what the most important tasks and the most urgent tasks. You would do the most important and most urgent tasks first. You can then do the most urgent, but less important tasks. After that, you would do the more important, but less urgent tasks. Finally, you would do the less urgent and less important tasks. You need to review your task list every morning before you start your work and every evening to see what you have done.

Checking your list in the evening will enable you to add any other tasks that came up during the day. Therefore, keeping check on your task list is a great strategy in time management for musicians or any other professionals.

This is also a great strategy for how to boost your mental health. This is because it will give you a greater sense of achievement. For instance, my tasks for today say that I need to do this blog post, make a video and then make a podcast. I am writing this on Monday morning, but all three pieces of content will be published on Wednesday.

A Great Social Media Campaign is Also an Excellent Strategy for How to Boost Your Mental Health

If you get excellent results with your social media campaigns this can give you a great sense of achievement. This is because you will feel that people want to interact with you. The more results you get, the happier you will feel. However, you should also know that this is a short-lived sense of achievement. The better results you get, the more you want to get.

Achievements to Dismiss if You Want to Learn How to Boost Your Mental Health

Having just said that results can bring you a better sense of achievement, this is actually a metric to avoid. This is because the more results you get, the more you expect. You may get great results in one campaign. The following day, you may run a campaign and get very poor results. You will be left feeling deflated and discouraged.

Therefore, if you want to learn how to boost your mental health in your work, you should focus on other metrics. These would include experiences, people and the amount of fun you have. A music career should be all of these things first and foremost. Therefore, you should discount money, streams and follows. If you can say that you had a great experience, helped more people and had more fun, this should be your success meter.

Why is Money, Streams And Follows Wrong if You Want to Learn How to Boost Your Mental Health

A few years ago, I had a very successful Twitter account. I was in the top ten most followed accounts in my region. I had around 20,000 followers. However, I was never satisfied. I wanted more and more. I would only follow people who followed me and unfollow those who weren’t following me. Looking back at it now, I am glad my account got suspended because I had the wrong attitude. It wasn’t about who I was following, but who was following me. I would unfollow an ideal Twitter account and follow accounts that spoke in languages I couldn’t even understand. This was the wrong way to go and I was never satisfied.

It is experiences like this that you need to avoid. Don’t do it for the numbers. You have to do it for your own experiences. Even if you fail, it could still offer a great experience because you can learn more from bad experiences than you can from good experiences. Therefore, don’t look at a failure in a negative light. A failure can be just as positive as a success.
