Key Takeaways

  • Great for any genre
  • Performs as well as any more expensive delay plugin.
  • Neat features that are fun to use and well worth your time and money.

Sound Quality of Dubstation 2 by Audio Damage

The sound quality belies the price of this plugin. It could easily compete with more expensive delay plugins.

You could use Dubstation 2 for any genre. Personally, I make electronic dance music – especially trance and techno, and Dubstation 2 is perfect for my needs. You could make psytrance or you could make trance or metal, but Dubstation 2 will be perfect for any genre.

The features such as the Reverse effect, the Time Sync and other controls make Dubstation 2 a no-brainer.

Value For Money

as I have already said, at less than £20 ($25), Dubstation 2 will be your best bet for an inexpensive delay plugin that will suit all your needs, meet and exceed expectations, and more.

Ease of Use

Dubstation 2 couldn’t be easier to use. All of the features on the plugin are very simple to use and getting the desired sound is very easy.

Features of Dubstation 2

Plugin Boutique just gives thisa 4 out of 5 for features. I don’t agree with this. It has all of the features you can expect from a plugin and more.

I especially like the time sync. As the name suggests, time sync sets the sound to the tempo on your DAW project. Therefore, if you are playing a 138 bpm track, the sound will be synced to a 138 bpm track. Therefore, it is quick and easy for you to get the sound you require. Having the ability to choose whether or not you wish for your sound to sync to the tempo is another terrific ability.

Another good thing about the plugin is the “Reverse” feature. If you play a string and hear the tone ring, the plugin will play the ring first and then the sound of you hitting the string.

As you would expect on a delay plugin, you also have an excellent saturation option which maximises the effect of the sound.

This is the only let down I can find. There are just eight presets. Granted, some are particularly good. However, what would you expect on a delay plugin? They are supposed to be twiddled with, right? Presets help – of course they do. But, they are not strictly necessary.

Overall, Dubstation 2 is an exceptionally good choice for your delay plugin. It will be my go-to for years to come. Therefore, I rate it highly. I’d give it a 5 out of 5 if I was reviewing it on Plugin Boutique.
